About the Artist
Alain Marcus is French, Argentine born. He was raised in Buenos Aires where he studied filmmaking, Fine Arts and music composition. Alain was deeply influenced by Fluxus and Joseph Beuys, not by the quality of their work, but by their Post-dadaist philosophy.
After his studies, the artist became a mountaineer and worked in Patagonia. Shortly after, he moved to Grenoble (France) where he continued to practice climbing, drawing and music composition. Gradually and increasingly, he began to concentrate on drawing, painting and printmaking. Alain had lived in India, Paris, Amsterdam and since 2016 he has resided in England, a constant movement that has responded to his constant need to strike a balance between art-making and his other, more earthy, needs. ‘I can only suspect, and not affirm, that all of my concerns, artistic, philosophical and existential are being addressed in my small narrative drawings and etchings.’
