Solo Show Starts 22nd March
About the Artist
Dominic Keshavarz is an artist based in Kent and he is drawn to the quieter places in his local environment; the places that are frequently overlooked.
He makes pen and ink drawings using layers of fine dots, sculpting light and shade to create a near photorealist depiction of the space.
This technique is relatively time consuming and the drawings are a visual record of this time.
In this way the artist hopes the works will suggest both an immediate sensation of a place and a more lingering contemplation of time passing in the space, much as one might experience by being in that place in nature.
He discovered his love for the dotting technique just prior to starting his degree but was distracted for a decade or so by the musician’s life and has only recently returned to it.
He was a finalist in the 2016 Ashurst Art Prize and was selected to show in the 2016 NEAC Annual Exhibition and the 2018 Threadneedle Prize Exhibition.
He held his first solo show at D Contemporary in Mayfair last September.
This show is the first time he has shown in Kent and it feels like something of a homecoming for many of the pieces, inspired as they were by nooks in the Kentish countryside.
