‘Where the sea meets the sky’, an upcoming solo exhibition by popular, local artist, Sarah Lester.

The intimate show will feature brand new paintings in Sarah’s unique style of layering textured paint strokes revealing hidden colours beneath. This effect is achieved by the artists use of paintbrushes, sponges and her hands. Using these tools Sarah moves swiftly across the image to convey movement and essential spirit of the wild land and seascapes she depicts.

Is it the water that seems to go on forever, or the sky?

Sometimes I dream of sailing towards the horizon.

A blurred horizon with no sharp edges but full of endless possibilities and freedom. It's a space not to wonder, but simply to be in.

These paintings are memories, created from a lifetime of loving Cornwall and it's sea. These precious memories, give an immediacy and emotional quality that could only come from me. - Sarah Lester 2025
