Catherine Robinson

Catherine studied at Canterbury Christ Church University, specialising in printmaking, and now works from her studio in Acrise, near Folkestone.  Printing on a 1970s Littlejohn etching press, she uses a range of printmaking techniques, including etching, drypoint, collagraph, monoprint, linocut, and woodcut.  She also works in collage, recycling some of her previous prints and making printed papers for specific projects.

Her art practice is underpinned and inspired by other elements in her life - she is a craniosacral therapist, and practises T’ai Chi, Qigong, contemporary dance, and gardening. Together, these help to sustain the balance, presence, and curiosity essential for her creative work.

She often works in series, developing an idea over several images. Recurring themes include migration (both of humans and birds), growth and decay, and the cyclical rhythm of the seasons.  Starting with observational drawing, she selects whichever medium best expresses the image.

Catherine has exhibited at Turner Contemporary, the Mall Gallery (The Society of Wildlife Artists and The Discerning Eye), London Lighthouse Gallery (finalist in 2024 Art Gemini Prize), and in solo and group exhibitions in galleries throughout Kent. Her work is held in many private collections, including in the UK, Europe, Canada, and Australia.
