David Lilford
David Lilford’s lifelong passion for art is clear to anyone who has met him. He first fell in love with clay when hosting the Canterbury Throwdown with Cherry Tewfik, his close friend and biggest influence.
A second rescue dog and an empty garden shed/studio led David to take a weekly day off, and he soon filled this time with hours on end spent at the wheel.
Most of David’s pottery is for domestic use, from bud vases and a dinner service to dog bowls, but he recently fell in love with the beauty he can create from Raku firing his vessels.
“I throw pots because it calms me – the only way you can work with clay is to think only about the clay.”
